BE Wise! Proverb 13:20
With all that I have received over the years—wise friends are one of my most valuable assets.
As a counselor I seek wise counsel. I make it a regular practice to seek help from people who know things more than I do. Because of all that I am and do (husband, father, counselor, author, entrepreneur, radio broadcaster, friend, minister) I need to talk to many counselors.
Which leads me to Prov. 15:22, “Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counselors they are established” (KJV). “Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed,” (ESV).
This a good picture of wisdom in action—seeking help to be better help to others. We all must make daily decisions as to how we are to live, and we all need to stop long enough to see who we need support from to assure that our plans succeed.
We have purposes to fulfill, and disappointment can distract us and send us on a detour. These altered plans can cause us to miss-the-mark. However, wisdom says I will not do the foolish things of being around those who can hinder my progress.
Good Company is what we need to be led to seek; and 1 Cor. 15:33 tells us. “Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character’,” (NIV). As we continue to grow up, moving forward in life, we must be wise and spend time around wise people.
Allow wisdom to be something we ask for… (See James 1:5). Finally, Praying is a wise thing to do, for in doing so are asking the All-Knowing God for answers (solutions).
Therefore, BE Wise.
