Get to Know God Better (See Ephesian 1:17)
We discuss mental health and counseling here.
Specifically, we discuss Christian Counseling individuals, couples, communities, and families, and it’s Biblically based, for health, healing, and wholeness.
In this article, there are 3 things I want to share to help you know God better.
Prayer: Eph. 1:17 is part of a prayer. Therefore, as we pray, it “draws” us away from ourselves/our issues and towards God, the Healer. Prayer is a form of communication and in any relationship effective communication is essential. Our body language is one way we talk. So, I encourage you to position yourself in a way that we say, “I am here to listen and talk”. Here our attention is undivided, we have singleness of focus and purpose for being present.
Worship: this is a time set aside from everything else to be present with God. We block out all distraction and focus only on Him, for He is Worthy. We know how to give our attention to one person or thing, but here we make a conscious, an intentional effort to spend quality time with the Lover of your (my) soul. Quick point: the soul is made up of our will, mind, and emotions. Our mental health is dependent on soul restoration. He restores our souls (Psalm 23:3) and worship is a very special place, in His Presence, for restoration.
Word/The Bible: God’s Word is His Will and His Way (See 1 John 5:14-15). This is the confidence we have in prayer. Reading gives us access to information that is very helpful to change the way we live. Many of us have heard, said, or read that words “make” us feel and act a certain way. Words are very powerful/impactful. By spending time in His Word, in honoring the written Word, the Rhema Word (the right now, present Word) is released to help us in our situations. I strongly encourage us all to Study the Word of God with an open mind and an open heart, to really focus on what is being communicated to us (it’s not like anything else we read; See 2 Tim 2:15 & 3:16-17). I pray believing that we Get to Know God Better, for our Health, Healing, and Wholeness.
